WE USED:
* wooden mug stand
(we found ours in an op shop for only $3)
* sandpaper
* white paint
* christmas baubles
I found an old wooden mug stand in an op shop recently and really liked the shape. The varnish was in pretty bad condition so I gave it a light sand all over and then painted it white. The girls are loving hanging Christmas decorations all over it and using it in their games and imaginary play - fun, pretty and skill building all in one, not bad for $3 :-)

That's neat and the girls decorated it all by themselves. Cute idea!
